What is your doctrinal stance?

We are members of the French Evangelical Alliance. As an interdenominational community we are made up of a rich breadth of mainstream Christian traditions.

Where does your funding come from?

From our members. No external funding is received from any source. In fact we give away a significant amount of our income each year.

What is the mix of nationalities in the church?

This is constantly changing – we have up to 40 nationalities at any one time. The British are the largest group followed by representatives of African nations, European countries and the United States.

What is the average age?

Late thirties - early forties.

Where do your congregation live?

About 50% live in France and the rest in Switzerland (we are 500metres from the border). Most of us are within a short drive from the church building.

And your political outlook?

We believe the Christian faith transcends party politics and we have members with a wide variety of political views.

Is everyone in the church just there a short time?

No, we have a number of long-stayers as well. Some have seen out their career and decided to retire here others are now on permanent contracts. We are a rich mixture.

What are your relationships like with neighbouring churches?

Excellent. We meet regularly with an ecumenical group of English speaking pastors in Geneva and also with the protestant Pastorale in the French Pays de Gex. We work closely with our fellow Christians on various projects.

And your relationships with the local community?

We are a registered association within the town of Ferney-Voltaire and seek to play a full part in community life.

How can someone become a member of Crossroads?

There are only two things we look for. First, that someone is an active follower of Jesus Christ and, second, that they are willing to commit themselves to play an active part in the community here – for whatever time span they will live in the greater Geneva area. (Some of our members retain their membership of their home church whilst joining us for the duration of their stay here.)

Do you have to be a fully paid up Christian to attend?

No. We welcome everyone – especially those with doubts and questions. (And no-one will give you a hard time for asking the questions.)
